On Thursday, President Joe Biden made his strongest statements yet condemning some of the pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel protests disrupting college campuses in the US.

The comments come as more schools are turning to police to restore order and as the protests become a potential political liability for Democrats.

The protests have turned into a major political issue, one that Republicans see as a winner for them.

Hence, the spate of pro-Israel bills that are now circulating in the house, including the Antisemitism Awareness Act, which, despite 70 no votes from Democrats, is headed to the Senate.

Police in Los Angeles tore down barricades at UCL A early Thursday and arrested more than 200 protesters nationwide.

Across the nation, more than 2000 students have now been arrested at pro-Palestinian demonstrations that President Biden said have gone too far.

"Vandalism, trespassing, breaking windows, shutting down campuses, and forcing the cancellation of classes and graduations. None of this is a peaceful protest," Biden said on Thursday.

Many Republicans say the encampments and chaos can be blamed on Democrats and their 'blue-state liberalism.'

"There is zero chance this would take place in Oklahoma. We wouldn't stand it, the governor wouldn't stand it, and the university presidents—I don't care which university you're at—would not tolerate this at all," U.S. Senator from Oklahoma Markwayne Mullin said.

There have been pro-Palestinian protests at the University of University, but they have not gotten out of control.

The Antisemitism Awareness Act, much like legislation Senator James Lankford introduced last month, would require the Department of Education to use the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism in considering federal civil rights violations.

Some Democrats and some Jews say the definition is too broad and will chill free speech, including legitimate criticism of Israel.

At a news conference Wednesday, Lankford disagreed, saying protesters could still voice their concerns.

"Of course, you can, but even in the definition, you can disagree with the Israeli government, but you can't call for genocide that moves into anti-Semitism," Lankford said.

The decision on whether to bring the House Bill up for a vote in the Senate lies with Senator Chuck Schumer, the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in America.
